Freeheat Alive : What Goes Around, Comes Around

The Camden Monarch July 2000. Barfly. This was where it was all set to happen. Freeheat's first ever gig. A few of us from the SomeCandyTalking (no names here to protect the guilty) message board met up at the gig for beers, chat and general mayhem. Minidsic misfired. Beers were sank. Many pictures were taken. It was an amazing night. The Monarch was as close to full as it gets. I have no idea what the capacity is in that place. It's a small sweaty club above a pub. Their were 2 support bands that were utterly forgettable. It wasn't long before Freeheat took to the stage. This is all being cobbled together from memory and this happened over 18 months ago. I know they get a rousing reception and the band played all their songs and one Mary Chain one as well. Encore? What fucking encore? The songs played were Baby G, What Goes Around*, Back On The Water, The Story So Far, Facing Upto The Facts, Get On Home**, Teenage Lust, Fucked Up Lover, No Love and The Two Of Us. * known from bootlegs from the final Jesus and Mary Chain shows, ** known from an MP3 (whether this MP3 was available prior to the gig I can't remember - so this track might not have been known at all!) Like I said the memory of actual events is hazy. I know Bobby Gillespie was there at some point. My minidisc crapped out and didn't record a single note. I need to shoot that freakin' thing. I was hooked on a few tracks INSTANTLY. Facing Upto The Facts grabbed my attention. I wanted to hear it again and again and again. The other track that got me bouncing like a loon was 'The Two Of Us' which I decided sounded everso similar to 'Upside Down' - well the riff was there and it was enough to get this hyped up, drink fuelled Mary Chainhead completely agog. The US tour was just over 2 weeks away. Oh Boy. I had the Freeheat bug. Just like I knew I would.
